UP BJP cadre falling apart? Is the Yogi Adityanath Government Under Threat?

The 2024 Indian Parliamentary Elections have left a huge impact on the Indian democracy. People who didn’t believe in the Election Commission of India were seen praising their officers. Political outfits that constantly criticized the Electronic Voting Machine or the EVM were seen celebrating their poll results. But for the first time in the last decade, the election results were not criticized for being rigged or the EVMs were not declared faulty.

Here in this article, we will decode the recent UP BJP meeting held to review the “so called” loss of the BJP in the Lok Sabha elections. The meeting also raised conspiracy theories for people that the Yogi Adityanath Government is Under Threat.

The loss of almost half the Lok Sabha seats in UP is being seen as the most defining moment in these elections. Talking about the reasons of this defeat, the Deputy CM of the State Sr. Keshav Prasad Maurya commented,

“The organization was bigger than the government, is bigger, and will always be bigger. The SP and the Congress in the form of ‘saapnath’ and ‘naagnath’ have pushed us behind for some time by lying and cheating. But in 2027, we will again form the BJP government in the state with a target of crossing 300 (seats),” the Deputy Chief Minister, Keshav Prasad Maurya said.

The claims made by Maurya were immediately picked up by the national media and speculations of a definitive BJP break up in UP were being made.

In the party’s election review meeting, where UP’s Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya was seen citing reasons for the loss, CM Yogi Adityanath had a different story to tell. Yogi Adityanath had a more pinpointed approach as he attributed the BJP’s poor performance in the recent Lok Sabha elections to ‘overconfidence’.

He said that while the BJP maintained its vote share from previous elections, there was a noticeable “shifting of votes”. Adityanath pointed out that the “defeated” opposition parties are now “jumping around” with newfound enthusiasm.

“The percentage of votes that BJP had in its favor in 2014 and subsequent elections, BJP has been successful in getting the same number of votes in 2024 as well, but shifting of votes and overconfidence have hurt our hopes,” Adityanath said.

“While good morning messages can be sent on smartphones, why wasn’t the Opposition’s spread of lies countered,” the Chief Minister asked.

Addition of foreign party workers could be the reason for the clash in UP BJP

The addition of foreign party members into the already cluttered UP BJP cadre proved to be a negative for the party. many workers were unsatisfied by the Ticket Distribution in their constituency and many RSS workers didn’t even come out to campaign for the BJP. The number of reasons for the 2024 UP debacle kept on increasing as the evening unfolded.

While senior leaders like Keshav Prasad Maurya addressed the workers’ concerns, Yogi Adityanath questioned why the workers could not effectively counter the opposition’s negativity. This highlights a notable UP BJP clash between addressing workers’ grievances and maintaining the government’s operational stance.

The political proposal failed to mention the widespread discontent among party workers or the issues with bureaucracy continuously voiced by local leaders. During the elections, many workers were disappointed and inactive, unable to assist people at police stations and tehsils, yet this issue was not addressed in the executive committee meeting.

Congress MP Abhishek Manu Singhvi Mocks UP BJP Situation-ship

Congress and the Samajwadi Party have been the top gainers in the whole 2024 election debacle of the Modi Government. For many Congress leaders and spokespersons, the Ever-Youthful leader Rahul Gandhi has again lifted their political party to a better status.

Sure, taking a political party from 44 seats to 99 seats is a big deal. However, as the Prime Minister correctly mentioned in the Lok Sabha a few weeks ago, “They forget that the 99 seats they have won were not out of 100, they have actually scored 99 out of 543”

Adding fuel to the ongoing discontent within the UP BJP, former Congress MP Abhishek Manu Singhvi mocked the ruling party, claiming that Uttar Pradesh now has three Chief Ministers. Singhvi, a senior advocate, took to social media platform X to ridicule the UP BJP review meeting, describing it as a public display of infighting.

“UP BJP’s review meeting was hilarious! Infighting coming out to surface and public catfight in the meeting. UP now has three CMs – two of them desperate to remove ‘Deputy’ from their designations,” Singhvi said.

“Evidently clear the top bosses have decided to dethrone the local chieftain!” he added

Our Opinion:

The Indian Elections are celebrated across the globe as a festival of democracy where over 800 million voters come out and vote for their choice of leaders. The Prime Minister of India is selected by the people and for over a decade now, the people have trusted PM Narendra Modi for this job.

We have seen turmoil all over the world in the past decade. But the one shining light in all this chaos was the Democracy of India. After Covid-19, we came out as the ‘Vishva Bandhu’ or ‘Friend of the World’. However, the work done in the past decade was considered enough by the ruling party.

Thinking that they could attract minority voters just by helping their women with the abrogation of Triple Talaq and by providing them a better standard of life by giving them houses and toilets for personal use, they thought they could convince them to vote for the BJP.

They even had the gall to alienate the RSS. The only national organization that is considered to be the evergreen friend of BJP and considered as BJPs origin point by many, was cast aside in these elections by blatant remarks by the likes of J.P Nadda, the BJP President. After all of this mess, the last nail in the coffin was the ‘Ab ki baar 400 paar’ slogan.

After that slogan was created, the BJP only saw a downfall in the debates and a sudden shift in their representative’s speech patterns. They suddenly seemed so overconfident and undefeatable around the 5th stage of the election. Every Exit Poll was showing outrageous numbers, and every media channel was yelling different figures but was sure that the BJP is forming the government on its own.

The elections only seemed like a matter of formality. It was evident that this Overconfidence would hurt the ruling party. But it would hurt them so much that they would lose “Ayodhya” and “Amethi” out of all seats. This blow has sent the BJP cadre back to the drawing board and the people have served them right.

Forgetting the real purpose of why they were sent to power. Their silence on hundreds of incidents where a certain section of society wanted them to speak up, all of these issues had latched themselves on to the success of one man, MODI. The 240/543 that the BJP has got is still because of that one man. But many have contributed to the loss of those 63 precious seats.

Let’s wait and watch what happens in the UP BJP cell.
