After the horrific incident of public West Bengal flogging in the Uttar Dinajpur District of West Bengal, another similar incident has occurred in the state. The second Taliban-like incident comes from the Barrackpore District in West Bengal, where Jayanta Singh, a close worker of Madan Mitra (renowned Trinamool Congress Leader from the area), was seen brutally beating a woman with the help of several of his thugs.

The law and order condition for women in West Bengal has seen a steep downfall since TMC won the Vidhan Sabha (Legislative Assembly) elections in 2021. Tajemul Islam, The man behind the horrors
This comes days after the police have levelled severe charges, including an attempt to murder, assault with intent to outrage the modesty of a woman, and causing grievous hurt, against arrested TMC strongman Tajemul Islam in the Chopra flogging case.
The main perpetrator of the West Bengal Flogging incident Tajemul Islam has 12 ongoing criminal charges against him, including one for murder. On Monday, a municipal court in Uttar Dinajpur, West Bengal, remanded him to police detention for five days. Following the release of a video showing him viciously caning a couple in Chopra, he was taken into custody on Sunday.
Hours after an old video showed Jayanta Singh, a close assistant to Trinamool Congress (TMC) politician Madan Mitra, and some guys hitting a woman ruthlessly with sticks at a Kamarhati bar went viral, the West Bengal Police filed a criminal case against Singh.

BJP slams the West Bengal Flogging under the Mamata Government in Bengal
Bengal’s Barrackpore Police posted on X, saying, “BKP PC has taken note of an old video depicting an assault on a girl that is currently making the rounds on social media. A criminal case has been initiated Suo motu. All legal actions are being taken against the individuals seen in the video, two of whom are already in detention.
The newest West Bengal Flogging incident caused controversy, prompting Governor CV Ananda Bose to request a report from the TMC CM Mamata Banerjee. Meanwhile, the BJP accused the ruling TMC of ‘unleashing Taliban rule’ in the state. Soon after the BJP spokespersons made these allegations, the TMC took a few steps back, and we are still waiting for a response from the Bengal CM.

Central Ministers Condemn West Bengal Floggings
BJP National Spokesperson and former Indian National Congress member Shehzad Poonawalla commented on the West Bengal Flogging video, equating it with the videos of Taliban extremists flogging women on the streets. His tweet on X read, “Another Horrific Talibani video from Bengal after Chopra Talibani flogging by Tajemul… TMC means Talibani Mujhe Chahiye. A close associate of TMC MLA is thrashing a girl with his gang.”
Poonawalla has been criticizing the unambiguous silence of all the INDI Alliance Political leaders, especially Rahul Gandhi and Arvind Kejriwal. The BJP’s attack on INDI has intensified as we see the decline of law and order in West Bengal. Poonawalla also questioned the opposition in another tweet, stating, “Will leader of hypocrisy Rahul Gandhi say a word or visit? What about INDI ALLIANCE NETAS? Sandeshkhali – silent, Chopra – silent, Post poll rapes – silent, Mahua Moitra tweet – silent, Swati Maliwal – silent. TMC LEADERS HAVE THEMSELVES CONFIRMED THE VIDEO… THEIR DEFENCE IS THAT IT’S A FEW WEEKS/MONTHS OLD! Is that even a defence? It means TMC, as usual, suppressed the video using threats…”

“The Indian DEMOCRACY is declared dead in states like Haryana and Uttarakhand, where no religious riots have taken place for years. DEMOCRACY dies in Gujarat in 2002, even when the Supreme Court gave a clean chit to a Chief Minister after gruelling CBI and ED investigations. Another time our DEMOCRACY died was when the government introduced The Three Farm Bills to reform the farming sector. DEMOCRACY dies when the PM Modi visits a temple and a video of him performing ‘Shaashtaang Dandavat Pranaam’ to Lord Rama Lalla goes viral on social media.”
“DEMOCRACY lives a happy and content life when men mercilessly beat Swati Maliwal in a CM’s House.
DEMOCRACY rules when men publicly beat a woman with sticks on the streets of West Bengal.
DEMOCRACY flourishes when assailants brutally assault the women of Sandeshkhali for years in West Bengal.”
Hypocrisy in states like West Bengal is taking lives every day.
Someone needs to step up! Or else incidents like the West Bengal Flogging will keep repeating themselves in Bengal. Will it be Modi? or will it the the Governor of West Bengal? Or will the Supreme Court ‘finally’ intervene in a state where BJP is not the ruling party? all of these questions need answers and all the women in West Bengal need Justice and Protection.
